About Us
Who We Are
Nuru Center is a 501(c)(3) organization that provides assistance to poor children, especially those orphaned by HIV/AIDS in the rural areas of Kenya. The organization is the brainchild of three friends - Shem Orwenyo, Bilha Gichuki and Gladys Mutinda. All three are committed to giving back to the rural communities in which they grew up.
Mission Statement
To empower orphaned and poor children in rural Kenya to achieve their highest potential and grow to become confident, competent, self-reliant, and productive members of their communities by providing food, shelter, clothing, medical care, and educational opportunities.
Financial Accountability and Reporting
As a 501(c)(3) public charity, the Nuru Center relies upon the support of generous public to fulfill its mission. As such, stewardship and transparent accountability is an integral part of everything we do — because we recognize that every resource entrusted to us can transform real children's lives.
